A 4 day jungle camping tour in Iquitos Peru is designed as a full Amazon expedition, combining extended time in the rainforest with multiple nights of camping in remote environments. This format allows you to move beyond introductory experiences and access deeper areas of the Amazon where the ecosystem is more active and less influenced by external activity.
Located in the Peruvian Amazon, Iquitos provides direct access to river systems and tributaries such as Yanayacu, where extended camping creates a continuous and immersive experience. This tour is ideal for travelers looking for a more complete and in-depth connection to the rainforest.
Your journey begins in Iquitos, where you’ll head straight into the Amazon by boat. As you travel along the river, the transition is immediate—dense rainforest, wildlife along the banks, and your first chance to spot pink river dolphins.
The day continues with hands-on experiences, including a visit to Monkey Island and your first interaction with the Amazon ecosystem. After sunset, you’ll head into the forest for a nocturnal hike, where the rainforest comes alive with insects, amphibians, and nocturnal wildlife.
Wake up to the sounds of the rainforest and head out early for wildlife observation, when the jungle is most active. You’ll explore by boat and canoe through tributaries, spotting birds, monkeys, and other species along the way.
In the afternoon, you’ll try traditional piranha fishing and explore unique plant life like the massive Victoria Regia. As night falls, you’ll head out on a caiman spotting excursion, scanning the riverbanks for glowing eyes in the dark—one of the most memorable Amazon experiences.
Today takes you deeper into the rainforest. You’ll trek into dense jungle terrain with your guide, learning how to read the environment—plant life, animal tracks, and survival techniques used in the Amazon.
Later, you’ll visit a local community, gaining real insight into how people live in this environment. This adds depth to the experience—understanding the Amazon not just as a place, but as a way of life.
The day wraps with continued exploration and another opportunity to experience the jungle after dark.
Your final morning begins with one last jungle excursion—often a hike or river exploration depending on conditions.
From there, you’ll begin the journey back to Iquitos by boat, taking in the last views of the rainforest as it slowly transitions back to the edge of the city.
In just four days, you’ve experienced the Amazon in a way most travelers never do—active, immersive, and real.
