A 6 day jungle camping tour in Iquitos Peru is designed as an extended Amazon expedition, offering multiple days of exploration and continuous immersion in remote rainforest environments. With additional time in the field, this experience allows for deeper access to less-traveled areas where the ecosystem is more active and dynamic.
Departing from Iquitos, the journey follows the Amazon River and its tributaries into zones where camping creates a sustained connection to the environment. This tour is ideal for travelers seeking a longer, more immersive Amazon experience with greater exposure to the rainforest.
Your experience begins in Iquitos, where you’ll transition quickly from city to jungle. Traveling by boat along the Amazon River, the environment shifts fast—dense rainforest, wildlife along the banks, and your first chance to spot pink river dolphins.
After arrival deeper in the Amazon, you’ll settle in and begin your first guided exploration. As night falls, the jungle comes alive, and you’ll head out on a nocturnal excursion to experience the Amazon after dark.
Wake up to the sounds of the rainforest and head out for a morning wildlife excursion. This is when the jungle is most active—birds, monkeys, and river life all moving at once.
Throughout the day, you’ll explore by boat and canoe through narrow tributaries, try traditional piranha fishing, and spend time along the river observing the ecosystem up close. Later, you’ll have the opportunity to swim in the Amazon and encounter pink river dolphins in their natural habitat.
In the evening, you’ll head out again for a caiman spotting excursion along the riverbanks.
Today shifts deeper into the forest. With your guide, you’ll trek into more remote jungle terrain, learning how to read the environment—animal tracks, plant life, and natural navigation.
This is where the experience becomes more hands-on. You’ll learn survival techniques used in the Amazon, from identifying medicinal plants to understanding how locals interact with the ecosystem on a daily basis.
By the end of the day, you’ll prepare for a more immersive phase of the journey ahead.
This is one of the defining days of the experience. You’ll move deeper into the rainforest and set up camp in a remote location, often near elevated viewpoints like canopy observation towers that overlook the jungle.
From this vantage point, the scale of the Amazon becomes clear—endless rainforest stretching in every direction. Birdwatching here is exceptional, and the environment feels completely untouched.
As night falls, you’ll experience the jungle in its most raw form—sleeping under the canopy, surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.
After breaking camp, you’ll continue exploring surrounding areas, including lagoons and flooded forest zones known for high biodiversity.
You’ll also visit a local Amazonian community, gaining insight into how people live in one of the most remote environments in the world. This adds a human layer to the experience—understanding not just the jungle, but life within it.
The afternoon continues with relaxed exploration, wildlife spotting, and time on the river.
Your final morning begins with one last jungle excursion—often a hike or river exploration depending on conditions.
From there, you’ll begin the journey back to Iquitos by boat, watching the jungle gradually give way to the edges of the city.
You leave with more than just photos—you leave with a real understanding of the Amazon, having experienced it firsthand.
