The 5-day lodge and camping tour in Iquitos is designed to offer a gradual and comprehensive experience in the Peruvian Amazon. Unlike shorter itineraries, this program allows travelers to explore the environment in greater depth, combining the structure and comfort of a lodge with the freedom of camping in more remote areas.
The experience begins at the Maniti Eco Lodge, where travelers have a comfortable base for guided jungle walks, river navigation, and wildlife observation. This setting provides an organized introduction to the ecosystem, allowing guests to adapt before continuing into deeper areas of the rainforest.
Your 5 day Amazon lodge and camping tour begins with pickup in Iquitos and transfer to the river port. From there, you will travel by boat along the Amazon River, entering the rainforest environment where wildlife sightings begin immediately.
Upon arrival at the jungle lodge, you will settle into your accommodations and begin your first guided excursions, including jungle walks and river exploration. In the evening, a night excursion introduces you to nocturnal wildlife and the sounds of the Amazon after dark.
The second day focuses on exploring surrounding ecosystems through river navigation and jungle trekking. You will travel along tributaries and lagoons, observing monkeys, birds, and aquatic life.
Activities may include piranha fishing and plant interpretation, followed by a night excursion to observe caimans and other nocturnal species along the riverbanks.
On the third day, the experience shifts toward deeper immersion as you move beyond lodge areas into more remote sections of the rainforest. You will trek into the jungle and establish a camp in a secluded environment.
A highlight is the overnight stay at a canopy observation tower, offering a unique elevated view of the Amazon and increased opportunities for wildlife observation.
With extended time in the jungle, this day allows for deeper exploration of primary forest areas. Activities include wildlife tracking, canoe exploration, and learning about medicinal plants and survival techniques.
Being further from populated areas increases the likelihood of observing wildlife and experiencing the natural rhythms of the Amazon.
The final day begins with an early morning excursion, one of the best times for wildlife activity. After breakfast, you will begin your return journey by boat to Iquitos, with additional opportunities to observe the river ecosystem along the way.
The tour concludes with transfer back to your hotel or airport.
