The 7-day lodge and camping tour in Iquitos is designed as a complete expedition into the Peruvian Amazon, combining the best of two experiences: the comfort of a lodge and the immersion of camping in the rainforest. With more days available, this itinerary allows travelers to explore multiple ecosystems in greater depth and adapt more easily to the conditions of the environment.
The experience begins at Maniti Eco Lodge, where travelers take part in guided activities such as jungle trekking, river excursions, piranha fishing, and wildlife observation. This stage provides a structured introduction to the Amazon before continuing into more remote areas.
Your 7 day Amazon lodge and camping tour begins with pickup in Iquitos and transfer to the river port. From there, you travel by boat along the Amazon River, where wildlife sightings often begin immediately. Stops may include local markets and wildlife areas such as Monkey Island before arriving at the jungle lodge.
After settling in, you begin your first jungle activities including guided walks, river exploration, and a night excursion to observe nocturnal species.
The second day focuses on deeper jungle exploration, including guided hikes through primary forest where your guide explains medicinal plants, ecosystems, and wildlife behavior. River and lagoon excursions continue to provide opportunities to observe monkeys, birds, and aquatic species.
You begin navigating into more remote tributaries and flooded forest areas where biodiversity is higher. These areas offer some of the best opportunities for wildlife observation and understanding the structure of the Amazon ecosystem.
The experience shifts into a deeper immersion phase as you move away from lodge areas and into remote jungle locations. You will trek into the forest and reach a canopy observation tower (such as Palo Alto), where you will spend the night elevated above the jungle floor.
This unique environment increases wildlife visibility and provides a completely different perspective of the rainforest.
With extended time in remote areas, this day focuses on deeper exploration of primary forest ecosystems. Activities include wildlife tracking, canoe exploration, and continued observation of flora and fauna.
Being further from populated areas significantly improves wildlife encounters and allows for a more authentic Amazon experience.
You will visit local Amazonian communities to learn about traditional lifestyles, customs, and survival knowledge. This adds a cultural dimension to your experience, complementing the environmental and wildlife aspects of the tour.
Additional jungle excursions continue throughout the day.
The final day begins with an early morning excursion, one of the best times to observe wildlife activity. After breakfast, you return by boat to Iquitos, completing a full week of exploration in the Amazon rainforest.
